Starfish Laguna Beach: Exquisite Asian Fusion Dining Experience

Best service Best food Loved everything here. Definitely coming back! They have happ hour from 3-6p (I went on a Thu and not sure if they have it every day). Their price for the location and atmosphere is pretty good.

Excellent place with a great combination of top-quality sushi and a wonderful atmosphere — highly recommended! The service was very good as well.

This place never disappoints! Started with some appetizers. We had edamame, chicken wontons and potstickers. They were delicious and cooked perfectly. I had the lemon chicken as my main entrée and it was fantastic! Our waiter gave me the option to have it with green beans versus broccoli. It was a good call. Might seem like a small thing, but even the rice was cooked to perfection. Not too sticky not too dry, just right! My only complaint is that it’s a bit dark in there, but I guess we could choose to sit outdoors next time which might be a nice option. Lots of people enjoy enjoying a drink and some appetizers at the bar.

Well it’s our 40th anniversary and he chose Starfish in Laguna Beach, California.as the restaurant we were gonna celebrate our 40th anniversary at. Great choice my love! We started out with some drinks. I wish I could say that they were great, but they were OK. I really like the strawberry and coconut one. Unfortunately I can’t remember the name. we ended up trying the spicy dumplings, which tasted so good but my God are they spicy! The Korean tacos are amazing. I really loved those too. Everything was awesome! The service was bomb to! Our waitress was very nice. She explained everything on the menu and even brought an anniversary dessert for us. I had a great anniversary dinner with my family. We will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes they serve.

Best restaurant in the area by far! Such an amazing and hospitable service. Lesley was an absolute delight! The food was incredibly delicious and they accommodated our dietary requirements beautifully with no fuss. The place has a great vibe, easy parking and right by one of the most beautiful beaches. We will most definitely go back! Can’t wait.

We had a fantastic experience at Starfish for our yearly company holiday dinner! The food itself was excellent, the service staff was friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere was great. We did not feel rushed at all, which allowed for a fun and relaxed party vibe. I really appreciated the thoughtful timing of the courses too. They brought the food out in predictable waves over the course of a few hours, rather than all at once. The dishes were all crowd pleasers too! Happy with our decision to go with the more upgraded "Long Life" private dining menu option. Favorites we got to share were the seabass, baby back ribs, and sunset sushi! Food presentation was nice. Dessert was delicous, ending with the banana in phyllo dough and the flourless chocolate cake-- both excellent! We can't wait for our next meal at Starfish!

This is one of those local Laguna Beach gems that’s loved by locals, and I can see why. Locally owned and operated, the food is Asian fusion and with inflections of Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and more. The menu is huge. Portions are extremely generous. Staff are knowledgeable. Our server helped us order the restaurant’s greatest hits but left out a bit of detail that could’ve made our experience better. We ordered a lot - mainly because the menu sounded so good! The Asian chicken salad was large and excellent. Shrimp and pork pan fried dumplings were okay (the dumpling wrapper was on the doughy side) but the dipping sauce was so good it made the dish. Korean tacos came in threes and were very good, if a bit dry - would’ve been nice to have some sort of salsa but I know that’s not the style. Our entree- thai green curry Chilean sea bass wrapped in banana leave was excellent! Drunken noodles were also excellent (hand cut rice noodles were silky and the sauce was perfect) but our server didn’t prompt me about adding a protein and I didn’t realize it would come vegetarian if I didn’t specifically ask for a protein. I asked for a side or chicken to go with; the only option was grilled chicken breast and it didn’t quite work. The table next to us ordered the wonton soup and it smelled so good I had to have it. Indeed the broth was excellent but the wontons themselves were also very doughy. Our server asked for feedback and when I gave it, she said she often suggested udon with the broth for that reason (but didn’t suggest it to us, so we didn’t know). Nonetheless I really enjoyed the food overall. The vibe of the place was lively and the bar was full the whole time we were there. It’s located across the street from Montage Laguna Beach (where we stayed) and very easy to get to; would definitely go back.

We came across this lovely restaurant but never actually tried out till this past Tues. we decided to go there for lunch. I’ve always wanted to try here but didn’t have a chance. Once we finally did, it wasn’t disappointed at all. Since we had our fur baby with us. We got to sit outside patio which was very lovely with the decorations. It was during early lunch time so I got to video recordings the inside as well. Our host was nice. As well as our server Alexis. She is there from Mon to Thurs and has been there for 11 years. Super friendly. Ask for her if you would like to be at her sections. It was an Asian Fusion restaurant and there are a lot of selections on the menu. Food was great. Happy hour can get crowded after 4:30 so rsvp is recommended. She told me HH time but I forgot Lol. I will definitely come back for their Happy Hour next time
